Drop me a Line

I’m glad I have this photograph! It shows Deane at work. It appears he is working on a home floor plan. The images that follow will show his various line styles through the years plus clip art. The photo dates 1995 – don’t judge the date by the curtains! He was beginning to get sick around this time.

Below you will find Deane in several places… as an insurance adjuster, a taxidermist, a vacuum repairman, and as himself.

These two below, I don’t know if they are attributed to Deane. They were among his work. My google search says they could be in South Carolina.

Deane left Hinkle, Crawford & Fleming midsummer 1974 and joined Ron Fleming and his gang at Graphic Associates. The image here came from a promotional booklet featuring Ron, Deane, and Philip Habeger. The caption under the photo in the booklet reads, “Separately or combined, the artistic talents of these three men can offer the client a unique and practical solution to his illustrative concepts.”

l to r: Ron, Philip, Deane

Deane was showcased on two pages.

Another promotional item looked like this:

A closer look:

3 ads for Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, 1970

Two ads for Sooner Federal and Loan (1973 and 1974).

The image below is from 1975 and could be attributed to Deane.

Deane wrote in a letter to his mother in November 1990:

We don’t have the painting mentioned, and the client is not mentioned, but I found a buffalo. The buffalos he illustrated may have looked like this one. You can see this painting in “The Seventies” gallery under ‘Indians and Cowboys’.

More retail.

All ads have line! Check these out!

Some ad lines are quite curvy!

Now, let’s see what we have in the way of celebrations and milestones.

Jill’s announcement was a little more elaborate.
